What is the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA)?

For more than 20 years, the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA) has existed to protect, promote, and strengthen professional DJs. Built as a non-profit organization by DJs for DJs, the ADJA is designed to support working DJs with real-world tools, protection, and business growth opportunities. Today, the ADJA is one of the most established and trusted DJ associations in the United States, with more members than any similar organization.

Every active member gets a profile in the directory at no additional cost — it’s built-in marketing that works around the clock, backed by ADJA’s ongoing advertising to wedding coordinators and event planners nationwide.

Is the ADJA DJ Directory free to use?

Yes. Searching the ADJA DJ Directory is completely free — no cost, no email signup, no account required. Browse profiles, filter by location, event type, or genre, and reach out directly to a professional ADJA member DJ anytime.

I’m looking to hire a DJ for my event — where should I go?

Head to adja-dj.org to search our directory of professional, vetted ADJA member DJs. You can filter by location, event type, and music genre to find the right DJ for your wedding, corporate event, or celebration.

What are some of the other benefits besides discounted liability insurance and the education library?

The ADJA provides far more than insurance and education — it’s a complete support system for working DJs. Are there advantages to getting liability insurance as an ADJA member?

Yes. One of the original reasons the ADJA was formed was because more venues began requiring liability insurance for DJs, and individual coverage was expensive. The ADJA organized a group insurance program so members could access a discounted group rate. As a result, liability insurance through the ADJA is typically as low as $175 or less depending on location, compared to about $350 or more without membership benefits. This makes it a cost-effective option for working DJs who need coverage to book gigs and meet venue requirements.

Can I get liability insurance immediately?

Yes! Everything can be completed online 24 hours a day, and you can join and get liability insurance immediately, often within minutes, through our insurance partner via links on the website. This is especially important for working DJs who need proof of liability coverage right away to book gigs and meet venue requirements.

Can I get insurance for my equipment?

Yes. Through our insurance partner, ADJA members can also access discounted equipment insurance. The cost varies based on the value and amount of gear you need to cover, but members typically receive better rates and coverage options than standard standalone policies.

What about DJ education?

ADJA members get access to the DJ Drax Memorial Video Library, a comprehensive on-demand DJ education resource that includes training content DJs previously paid hundreds of dollars to own. The library covers everything from beginner fundamentals to advanced professional techniques, giving members ongoing DJ education, business skills, and performance training all in one place.

Does the ADJA help DJs get more bookings?

Yes. Beyond the professional network that connects members locally and nationwide, every member’s profile in the ADJA DJ Directory puts you directly in front of clients actively searching for a DJ. What information is included in my public ADJA DJ profile?

Your public profile on adja-dj.org can include your business name, service area, contact information, website, social media links, music genres, event specialties, and photo. Best of all, potential clients can reach out and book you directly from your profile. 

How do I update my DJ Directory profile?

You can update your public profile anytime by logging into your ADJA member account and editing your directory listing. Keeping your service area, genres, and photos current helps you show up accurately when clients search for a DJ near them.

Can I opt out of the Public DJ Directory?

Yes. While the directory is designed to give every member free exposure to potential clients, you can opt out of your public profile at any time by logging into your account profile and selecting “edit” next to Opt Out of Public Profile, (located underneath your name, and member renewal date).

Are there going to be more benefits in the future?

Yes. In addition to ongoing partner discounts, the ADJA is continually working on adding new member benefits designed to support and grow your DJ business. More tools, resources, and opportunities are planned for the future to further expand what members can access and help DJs stay competitive in an evolving industry.
